Description:
RIG-B Robot National Competition
The Autodesk RIG.B National Competition is a competition which participants could work with a fully rigged character in the form of a robot. The character had been provided via The Rookies website so it can be downloaded for us to experiment with and bring to life. Each person can choose one of the three different categories to create their own version of the robot and submit their entry such as texturing, animation or effects (FX).
Participants also must read the requirements and eligibility to enter the competition and submit their work. One of the requirements was that participants must be 18+ and another requirement was that they can only use Maya or 3ds Max as it is the only software that supports the model.
I chose the texturing category because I had limited experience with animation and effects, and it would be easier for me to bring the robot to life by texturing the robot inside 3ds Max’s material editor and Quixel Mixer. I wanted to use colours that would suit the theme of future and artificial intelligence such as white, grey, black, and blue. I had ideas for the robot to hold Earth in its hand with a background but instead changed the object to a skull to fit the theme. I volunteered to create the idea of having the user start in a cylindrical shaped portal room where you can choose different portals to walk into and be teleported into environments where you can see development work and our final products being showcased. As for mine, I have the robot located in the center of my room with work from three modules, showing progress of my skills since the start of the academic year. Unfortunately, my development work did not make it into my gallery and will instead be displayed on the panel to the right.

Description:
Final Major Project – The Car Crash
This project of mine was inspired by one of my own personal experiences/true story that happened years ago. For context, an accident happened near me which resulted in electricity being cut off for hours at night. This happened because of a driver that was intoxicated who drove at high speeds down a road, lost control of their vehicle, crashing into the power box which burst into flames. At this time, I was young and candle lights were put around the house so I would be able to see while waiting for the electricity to be restored.
I used Adobe Animate to draw out every scene that I created using my storyboard, animate each scene using features such as onion skin, and colour each scene. I used Freesound.org for any audio, and recorded dialogue using text to speech. To edit audio from Freesound.org, I used a software called Audacity.
I have a Creative Journal on my own website which records the process of making the Final Major Project here as well as a link to the animation on YouTube so that feedback can be left in the comment section:
