I had been given the task of reaching out to people in the animation industry by my course tutor in an attempt to receive feedback for my showreel so that I could get guidance of what I can do to improve my work. My thoughts at first were mixed since I don’t usually reach out to people using email so I had to push my negative feelings aside to gain more of a confidence boost.
To try save time, I have discussed this task with my uncle who is in touch with someone who is close friends with him and works in the animation industry. I was directed to a company named YOYOPOP (located in London) so that I could gain insight into what work/projects the company had produced before trying to reach out via email. I have learned that they have produced work for companies like BBC Studios and Amazon Prime Video to create stunning visuals.
I created a draft email of what I could send to the co-founder of YOYOPOP (Trev), featuring simple questions and a showreel of my best projects since I had never been in touch with creators in the animation industry before. I reviewed what I had written with family members and my tutor before getting the thumbs up to send it off.
Here is the email draft that I had produced before sending it off:

Unfortunately, I was not able to get a reply from the company as I assumed they were busy which was to be expected since I thought my chances of getting feedback from people in the animation industry were higher than reaching out to those who are not in touch with people that I know.
Looking back at this attempt, I should have tried reaching out to more companies to see which ones reply to my email so that I can successfully get feedback for my work.
