Map Design

This environment is a flat surface of clouds that has a giant cogwheel sat on top with a castle in the middle, mountains around the edges of the map, time-based objects such as a clock and hourglass, buildings that go from the edge of the giant cogwheel to the middle where a wall surrounds the castle, and an orb in the middle of the castle (similar to the Palantir from Lord of the Rings).
Storyboard

The first scene features a wanted criminal which has his poster stamped (as if it is a bounty poster) on a map of different roads.

The second scene features guards in a high security prison with advanced technology such as thermal visors on their helmets and guns in their hands while the third scene features a surveillance camera that will have a red light blinking to indicate that is recording anything happening in the prisoner’s cell.

Scene 4 and 5 features the prisoner, smirking as a portal opens up behind his chair, dragging both himself and the chair he is bound to, through it into a tunnel that leads into a new world (scene 5 will not be included in the animation).

Scene 6 and 7 shows a trail of energy falling from the exit of the portal, making its way down to a cogwheel shaped island that is sat above a thick layer of clouds in the sky along with different objects in relation to time such as a clock, clock hands, and an hourglass (this scene will be animated different to the storyboard).

Scene 8 shows an impact frame of the collision between the trail of energy and the ground, causing chunks of the ground to fly up.

Scene 9 follows up from the previous scene by zooming into the smoke from the aftermath of the prisoner landing onto the ground, revealing a menacing face while hiding the rest of his body in the shadows.

Scene 10 features a character who is the boss of the video game world and the creator of magic infused cogwheels in the game. In this scene, he stares out towards the entrance of his castle as he notices that a newcomer has arrived into the game.

Scene 11 features an orb that watches over the castle from above and is covered in a layer of thick poisonous smoke.

Scene 12 shows the prisoner being captured and questioned by the boss as to what he is doing in this world (this scene will not be included in the animation)

As for the thirteenth scene, the prisoner is shown looking towards the boss and responding to his questions.

The fourteenth scene shows the boss laughing at the prisoner for claiming that he can beat him and escape the world back to where he originates from (this scene will not be included in the animation).

This scene here shows a jester character working in his shop with different magic infused cogwheels being up for sale.

The jester in the next scene picks out a cogwheel that fits the prisoner’s evil nature, using the upper set of arms while the lower set is locked behind him.

Here, the prisoner begins to transform, using the cogwheel’s magic to change appearance which is shown in the next scene below.

Scene 18 features the fully transformed character, opening its eyes with a half metallic body and screws in its shoulders (similar to the design of Frankenstein except the screws are not in the neck)

After the transformation, it is shown in the second to last scene that the prisoner is looking in the distance with his eyes covered by the shadows of the night.

Lastly, the prisoner is shown outstretching its hand with an energy blast ready to fire at any moment towards the camera, with more of his face revealed towards the light, where dawn is rising.
Full Animation
Here in the animation, some scenes are cut out to save time with animating and colouring everything using different effects in Adobe Animate. The scene with the orange portal and yellow trail of energy was done in an app called FlipaClip which is also used for creating lower quality of animation.
