Editing The Theme Of My Website and Learning in Adobe Dimension (Week 11)

The website layout for the past few weeks have been too basic so I wanted to change it to a better layout where everything is sorted into categories such as Future Self, Immersion and Interface, and the next modules of this academic year. I also created a list for each of my blog posts. Here on WordPress, there are a variety of themes to choose from. There are some themes that are free and others that require premium to use.

The previous theme I had used was Geologist since it was a basic design to get myself started with developing the website. Now I have changed it to the theme named Bibliophile which sorts all of the blog posts into lists and allows me to place them into categories.

A quote that can be referenced here about changing things can be said by John Maxwell who wrote: “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional”. For myself, this means that the fact I have decided to change up certain aspects of my WordPress website was inevitable as I could not keep my website as the old theme which didn’t have a lot of options for customization and some features did not work.

Adobe Dimension

I have started experimenting inside Adobe Dimension by inserting different objects into a scene. There are different types of objects to choose from each category such as basic shapes and models. There are also different materials that can be applied to the scene. Examples include:

  • Glass
  • Metal
  • Plastic
  • Cement
  • Gelatin
  • Water
  • Olive Oil
  • Beer
  • Cardboard

In my scene, I dragged and dropped a table, bowl, and disc from the list of assets available in Adobe Dimension and resized it to an reasonable size before texturing the table to metal, the bowl to ceramic tiles, and the disc to gelatin. After, I gave the scene more detail by adding splash effects and ripple effect inside the bowl using the gelatin material, changing the background colour to a darkish grey and manipulating the lighting to only focus on the bowl itself.
